  • Old Tyme Dance - 7:30pm - 11:00pm, at Silverton Hall (8 kms east of Russell on hwy 45). $12 at the door, includes lunch.
  • Century 21's 33rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament - at Glen Lea Golf Course. Registration and BBQ starts at 2:00pm, shotgun start 3:00pm. $120/golfer includes golf, cart, BBQ and appetizers. For a registration form contact 725-0555. This year's proceeds go to Boyd Stadium in honor of Kevin Boyd.
Saturday, June 24th 2017
  • Celebrating Canada 150 - On Saturday, June 24th make a $2 donation at Sobeys or Safeway and receive a ice cream bar. 100% of funds raised will provide healthy meals and snacks for more than 100 local charities across western Canada. Sobeys will match donations raised to a total of $100,000.
  • Rivers Golf Tourney - Lion's Club breakfast 10:00am - 12:00pm, 12:00noon shotgun start. $50/player includes breakfast. Supper and prizes to follow in clubroom.
  • Youth Job Centre's Odd Job Squad - is offering to paint windows with Canada Day designs to celebrate Canada 150. The event will take place from 9:00am - 4:00pm, at a cost of $20 per window, which includes removal after Canada Day. For more information or to register 724-9172.

  • Canada's 150th Anniversary Celebration - at Victoria Park, Souris, will be held on Friday, June 30th with a live performance 8:00pm - 11:00pm with fireworks to follow. Saturday, July 1st 10:00am - 6:00pm kids activities, noon - 11:00pm live performance.

  • Strays That Can't Pay Inc - are at capacity with 38 kittens, so they are holding an Itty Bitty Kitty Pawty, 11:00am - 1:00pm, 1300 - 18th Street, to find them forever homes. Adoptable kittens will be on site.
  • Canada Day in Kenton - starting at 9:00am. Pancake breakfast, car rally, kids fair, BBQ, fireworks and more.
  • Celebrate Canada 150 - at the Riverbank Discovery Centre, starting at 11:30am. Opening ceremonies, kids tractor pull, duck races, free concert, fireworks and much more.
  • Canada Day in Virden - with free events in Victoria Park. Events starts at 12:00noon with children's activities, food booth, picnic races, parade and much more. Fireworks at 10:30pm.
